Sugar
Industry

Sugar is produced worldwide from two main crops: sugarcane in tropical regions and sugar beets in temperate zones. Regardless of the source, the composition of sugar remains the same.

The leading sugar producers are Brazil, followed by India, the European Union, and China. These four account for more than half of global sugar production. Mexico ranks eleventh in worldwide output.

In the United States, sugar is primarily produced from sugar beets in northern states and sugarcane in regions such as Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. The U.S. is not only a major producer but also one of the largest global consumers, with the sugar industry playing a vital role in the national food and beverage supply chain. Advanced processing, automation, and quality control technologies are key to maintaining efficiency and compliance in this sector.
